Worldschooling Hub Goa

South Goa, India

Living in South Goa with children

A month gives you time to do more than pass through. Familiar faces, favourite places and everyday discoveries become part of your family's story.

Our Hub is in Lolen, in the Poingunin area of South Goa, near Galgibaga and Talpona. Children and teens join 4-week cohorts, with a community around the whole family.

Settle into a place

Less moving around. More getting to know somewhere.

Moving between destinations can make a family trip feel like a succession of packing days. Staying for a cohort gives you a base: a place to cook, people to see again and a morning rhythm for your children. You can explore without making every day a travel day.

Galgibaga and Talpona bring the coast into your family’s month: beach games, time by the sea and space to explore together. Back at the Hub, garden paths, a small bridge and shaded corners give children places to explore and parents somewhere to pause between work and family plans.

Families choose either an onsite room or accommodation nearby. Larger families can ask about our two-bedroom house 400 metres from the Hub. Each choice has different practicalities, especially transport, meals and how often you want to be in the shared spaces.

Goa has its own identity

Language, flavours and stories to discover

Goa has its own language, flavours and traditions. Konkani is its official language, and children can encounter it alongside other languages as they get to know the place. A new word, a local dish or the story behind a visit can become something to explore together.

Coconut, spices and rice are familiar ingredients in Goan cooking, with fish curry a local staple. Cooking together brings tasting, measuring and sharing tasks into the same experience. Cultural workshops, henna, traditional dress and conversations over chai have also been part of Hub life.

Our paid local staff are part of the everyday community, alongside qualified teachers and facilitators. Their knowledge and conversations help families get to know the place beyond the beach.

Cooking and conversation

Cooking and cultural workshops invite children and parents to notice ingredients, follow a process and ask about local traditions. Measuring, sharing tasks and listening all have a place alongside tasting something new.

Markets and making choices

Teens explored budgeting, brand building and short pitches before preparing a cultural flea-market stall. Planning what to make, working out costs and talking to visitors brought their ideas into a shared community event.

Art and local traditions

Rangoli and a festival deep dive led into designing a cultural-market stall. Henna and traditional dress workshops offered other ways to explore patterns, materials and the stories behind them. Cultural outings have included Panjim and a spice farm.

Nature and time by the sea

Nature excursions, beach sports and outdoor making take learning beyond the group room. A tower challenge in nature engineering brought building and teamwork outdoors; family cricket and beach games gave adults and children time to play together.

Your family rhythm

An afternoon with room to choose

After collection at 1pm, your family might prepare lunch in the communal kitchen and catch up on the morning. Onsite families and offsite Community and Activity Pass holders share the kitchen, adult and family sessions and outings.

Choose an optional activity, make time for independent study or head to the beach together. Some days call for a quieter afternoon. At the weekend, there is room to explore with another family or keep the day open.

A month gives you people to return to as well as places to discover. Parents are participants too, with their own conversations, sessions and shared experiences.

A few useful pointers

Before you explore

  • For temple visits, ask about dress, footwear and photography guidance at the particular place. Ask permission before photographing people.
  • Give wildlife space, observe without feeding or handling animals, and take your litter away.
  • The programme runs Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 1pm, with varying excursion arrangements. Parents remain responsible outside supervised sessions. Check outing plans before organising work or independent travel.

Your first family stay in India

Before arrival we share a family handbook and can help arrange airport transfers and vehicles, with local information about SIM cards and getting around. Transfers and everyday transport are additional costs.

Our planning page brings together official visa checks, travel and medical insurance guidance and healthcare directories for Canacona and Margao. Discuss ongoing health needs with your own clinician before travelling.

For remote-working parents, the morning programme and shared coworking space can help establish a rhythm. Plan care and calls around your family's needs, including excursion days.
